Breakfast television fans, there is a new forecast for your mornings, because Dan Anstey is officially joining the Today show.

Nine has announced that Dan Anstey will become a permanent member of its breakfast team from 2027, presenting the weather on Today from Monday to Wednesday.

He will also co-host Weekend Today alongside Alison Piotrowski and Lizzie Pearl, according to a Nine media release.

For regular viewers, he will feel like a very familiar face.

Who Is Dan Anstey?

Dan Anstey has spent the past four years filling in as a weather presenter and host on both Today and Weekend Today.

He is an award-winning radio and television personality, best known to Queenslanders as part of Triple M Brisbane's breakfast show, Marto, Dan and Margaux.

Years of breakfast radio are good training for breakfast TV, where you need to be bright and chatty at an hour when most of us are still waiting for the kettle.

Now the fill-in role has turned into a permanent seat.

It is a classic story of patience paying off, and one many of us can relate to after years of proving ourselves in a job.

Being a regular stand-in also means the Today team already knows him well, which should make the transition smoother for everyone.

What It Means For Brisbane Radio Fans

With the move to Sydney, Brisbane listeners will be wondering what happens to his Triple M breakfast show.

Details of his radio plans have not yet been confirmed, so fans will be keen to hear when they can tune in for a farewell.

A Big Move For The Anstey Family

The new job means a life change for the whole family.

Dan Anstey will move from Brisbane to Sydney with his wife and their two children in the New Year, according to Nine.

Anyone who has relocated interstate with kids will know that is no small undertaking, with new schools, new routines and a new home to settle into.

He summed up his excitement with a sweet comparison, saying he felt like "a kid in a candy store" who got to pick his two favourite lollies.

What Nine Says About Dan Anstey

Steven Burling, Nine's Director of Morning Television, described him as one of the sharpest and most exciting talents around.

He also called him a familiar and much-loved face to audiences.

Burling added that Nine feels lucky to have him as a permanent part of the team from next year, as reported by Mediaweek.

Filling Big Shoes After Tim Davies

The role became available after weather presenter Tim Davies left Today earlier this year.

Davies joined the program in 2020 as part of a major revamp of the show, and his departure in September surprised many viewers, New Idea reported.

Now Nine has settled on a permanent replacement from within its own ranks.

Today's Full Line-Up For 2027

With Dan Anstey on board, the Today show's 2027 team is now complete.

Sylvia Jeffreys and Tom Steinfort remain at the main desk, with Jayne Azzopardi reading the news.

Michael Atkinson covers sport, while Richard Wilkins and Renee Bargh look after entertainment.

On weekends, Dan Anstey joins Alison Piotrowski and Lizzie Pearl on Weekend Today.

Why Breakfast TV Line-Ups Matter To Viewers

For many households, the breakfast show is part of the daily routine, playing in the background while lunches are packed and uniforms are found.

Viewers tend to form real attachments to the presenters they see every morning, which is why changes to the line-up always get people talking.

A cheerful weather presenter can set the tone for the whole day, and Nine will be hoping its new recruit does exactly that.

If you have enjoyed his fill-in shifts over the past few years, you will be seeing a lot more of him from 2027.

We wish Dan and his family all the best with the big move.
