Two people relax, drinking and holding a popcorn box labeled "Glendronach," in a cozy setting with red curtains in the background.
Pairing film and whisky is about more than flavour; it’s about emotion

Forget choc-tops and slushies. This November, one of Scotland’s most revered distilleries is turning movie night into a masterclass in indulgence.

The Glendronach is bringing its signature single malts to the big screen in a three-night event at Palace Cinema Como, South Yarra, complete with in-seat whisky butlers, caviar-topped popcorn and a finale that pours pure extravagance.

Running from Wednesday 12 to Friday 14 November, The Glendronach Whisky-Meets-Film Experience pairs rare single malts with cinematic classics chosen to match each whisky’s mood.

It’s the kind of evening that makes Gold Class look like economy.

The Glendronach gives flight to films and flavour

Curated by film critic Zak Hepburn, the series opens with The Great Gatsby alongside The Glendronach 12-Year-Old, a fitting nod to indulgence and nostalgia.

Next comes Y Tu Mamá También paired with the 15-Year-Old, echoing its Spanish sherry-cask warmth and sensual complexity.

The curtain closes with The Godfather and the 18-Year-Old, a match that celebrates patience, power and legacy.

Tickets are $50, the cost of a Palace Platinum screening, but the experience is far from ordinary.

Guests begin with a guided tasting of The Glendronach’s featured malt plus a rare drop from the Master’s Anthology Series, before settling in with a bespoke cocktail served by their personal whisky butler.

Gourmet meets golden age

Cinema snacks get the fine-dining treatment: Yarra Valley caviar crowns the popcorn, Spanish charcuterie nods to the distillery’s famed Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, and a final sweet course arrives with a surprise pour of an unreleased Glendronach whisky worth a cool $2,000. Consider it dessert for the truly devoted.

When whisky tells a story

“Pairing film and whisky is about more than flavour; it’s about emotion, atmosphere and storytelling,” says curator Zak Hepburn.

“Each Glendronach expression evokes a distinct mood, from bold and brooding to rich and nostalgic, inviting guests to experience cinema and whisky in a completely new way.”

The Glendronach’s Brand Manager, Stuart Reeves, agrees. “At The Glendronach, we’ve always believed great whisky tells a story, rich, layered and deeply evocative.

This partnership brings that philosophy to life in an entirely new form. It’s not Gold Class; it’s a masterclass in craftsmanship — cinema, served neat.”

A toast to the silver screen

For three nights only, Palace Como becomes a playground for connoisseurs, a place where whisky flows like film reels and the popcorn sparkles with caviar.

It’s a decadent nod to the golden age of cinema, served with the kind of polish only The Glendronach can deliver.
