MELBOURNE MUM VICKY LOST A WHOPPING 52 KILOS .... HERE'S HOW SHE DID IT!

Vicky Vukadin

It's no wonder Vicky Vukadin, 57, was named Australian Slimmer of the Year last month - the medical receptionist and mum of three lost an incredible 52 kilos after tipping the scales at 128 kg. Here, Vicky tells Lifestyle News how she did it.

Q. Congratulations on your weight loss. How long did it take you to lose 52kg?

A: Thanks so much! It’s taken me about 22 months to lose 52 kilos, and it's been slow but steady. Taking my time to lose weight has meant I’ve made positive lifestyle changes that I can sustain to help me stay healthier for longer. Whilst it can be quicker for others, I feel very proud of the long-term change I’ve made over the course of the last two years.

Q: What prompted you to lose weight?

A: I’ve always struggled with my weight, but when I started suffering from swollen feet, which my doctor said had developed from my weight gain over the years, I decided that it was time to make a change.

I knew that I had to change my lifestyle to improve my physical health and continue being mobile, which in turn has made me feel healthier mentally.

Once I started the journey, I felt motivated to continue as I could see how even the small changes greatly impacted my health.

Q: What made you try the 1:1 Diet?

A: I saw how well a few people close to me were doing on the program, and it prompted me to give it a try.

I’d struggled with diets for many years, but having the support from my consultant meant that I always had someone to turn to, and that helped me to stay on track.

Also, with a supply of tasty, pre-portioned meals, I knew it would be easier to implement them into my everyday routine.

Q: Tell me about your typical day of eating before the diet.

A: Before I began my weight loss journey, I definitely did not eat right. I rarely ate a proper breakfast and often skipped meals completely.

I know now that not properly fuelling your body for the day ahead is one of the worst mistakes to make when you’re trying to lose weight and become healthier.

I would drink multiple coffees before lunch instead of having breakfast, and sometimes I would even skip lunch.

Due to life’s busy schedule, I wouldn’t have dinner until very late in the evening, between 8-9pm. By then, I was not motivated to cook a healthy and nutritious meal and turned to comfort foods and convenience meals.

Q: What does a typical day look like now?

A: Now, I have a consistent three meals a day with a snack in between, depending on my daily routine.

Through The 1:1 Diet, I’ve learnt how to incorporate all the important nutrients into my diet and try to stick to it daily. I also incorporate exercise into my routine, and the combination has left me feeling like a new woman!

Q: How active are you now?

A: I’m quite active now, walking about 8-10 km a day, whereas before, I struggled with a smaller number of kilometres. I thoroughly enjoy being more mobile, and it’s easier having lost weight.

Q: What advice do you have for someone else considering this journey?

A: The 1:1 Diet Plan is very easy to follow, and there isn’t much preparation time involved, so it’s great for busy people.

Having the guidance of your consultant throughout your journey, who will give you tips along the way, keeps you motivated and ensures that you don’t feel alone throughout the process.
