Jetting off to Europe this winter? You’re not alone. Thousands of Aussies are chasing the sun, swapping scarves for sundresses and embracing the magic of a Euro summer.
But with strict baggage limits and ambitious itineraries, knowing what to pack (and what to leave behind) is half the battle.
Jessica Thompson, Global Brand President of athleisure label Halara, shares her top packing tips to help you travel light, stay stylish and feel comfortable - no matter what your itinerary throws at you.
1. Build a Capsule Wardrobe: Stick to a neutral colour palette with a few standout pieces to mix and match easily. Consider wardrobe staples that can be styled in multiple ways. “Halara’s Active Dresses are a game-changer,” says Thompson. “They take you from sightseeing to aperitivo hour without missing a beat.”
2. Nail the Travel Outfit: Let’s face it, long-haul flights are brutal. Opt for soft, breathable fabrics that move with you. Wide-leg pants or leggings are ideal: polished enough for the airport, yet comfy enough for a 15-hour flight
.
3. Carry-On Like a Pro: Flight delays and lost bags are still a thing. Always pack a spare outfit, your essentials (charger, toiletries, skincare products), and any valuables in your carry-on bag. A crossbody or belt bag keeps your travel docs and passport secure.
4. Limit Your Shoes: Shoes are suitcase space hogs. Two pairs max: one comfy pair of sneakers for travel and walking, and one pair of sandals or slides that can do double duty at the beach and the bar.
5. Pack a Day-to-Night Hero: Every suitcase needs a go-to outfit that works for both daytime adventures and dressier dinners. A matching set or flowy skirt in an easy-care fabric fits the brief perfectly.
6. Don’t Forget Layers: Yes, it’s summer, but European weather can be unpredictable. Pack lightweight layers like a sun shirt or a thin jumper. They take up next to no space and save you when the breeze rolls in.
Final Word: Don’t overpack,” says Thompson. “With the right pieces, you’ll wear everything on repeat. and still look great in every travel snap.”
