Superloop and Dodo dominated Finder’s Broadband Awards 2026, while new data suggests Australians are still overpaying for internet by hundreds each year.
Australia’s best NBN providers for 2026 have been revealed, with Superloop taking out the top honour in Finder’s annual Broadband Awards as millions of Australians continue paying more than they need to for internet access.
The comparison platform’s latest analysis found Australians paid an estimated $986 million in “loyalty tax” on NBN plans last year, largely because many customers stayed with the same provider despite better deals becoming available elsewhere.
Finder assessed more than 40 broadband providers over a 12-month period, combining plan analysis with customer satisfaction data to determine this year’s winners across a range of internet categories.
Superloop named NBN provider of the year
Superloop was crowned Finder’s overall NBN Provider of the Year for 2026, recognised for its mix of strong performance, speed and customer satisfaction.
The provider also picked up the award for hyperfast speed plans, while SpinTel won the ultrafast speeds category.
Finder utilities expert Mariam Gabaji said the awards were designed to help Australians navigate an increasingly crowded and confusing broadband market.
“We’ve done the heavy lifting to find the providers that stack up well for both speed and value, rather than just flashy marketing offers that last a few months,” she said.
“We’ve analysed internet plans from different providers and baked in real customer feedback to find the ones that actually hold up.”
Dodo dominates the budget and everyday NBN categories
Dodo emerged as one of the biggest winners of the Finder Broadband Awards 2026, taking home five separate product awards.
The provider won best budget NBN provider and best everyday use NBN provider for the second consecutive year, along with awards covering several high-speed plan categories.
TPG was also recognised, winning best wireless broadband provider for the second year running as more households explore alternatives to traditional fixed-line internet.
Why Australians are paying more for NBN
Finder said many Australians were still paying too much for broadband because the best promotional offers are often reserved for new customers.
According to Gabaji, anyone who has not compared plans in the past year could be missing out on substantial savings.
“The best deals and providers change over the years. If you haven’t compared broadband providers in the last 12 months, you’re probably paying too much,” she said.
Her comments come as wholesale NBN price increases are due to take effect from July 1, raising the prospect of higher monthly internet bills for many households.
Finder said incentives such as sign-up rewards and discounted introductory pricing were becoming increasingly common as providers compete for customers.
The company currently offers a $110 digital Visa card incentive for eligible customers switching to selected Dodo NBN plans.
