If you have ever wished your everyday bra felt as good as it looks, Melbourne label Nala is building an answer.
The brand’s calling card is playful colour, inclusive sizing and fabrics that feel barely there, all engineered to pass the wear-all-day test without compromising style.
Co-founder Chloe de Winter says the secret is mixing nostalgia with technical rigour.
“We’ve noticed nostalgia is having a real moment in fashion and culture, and it felt like the perfect lens for us to play with," she told Lifestyle News.
"Desserts like chocolate mousse, banana splits, and strawberries & cream spark such universal memories - they’re cheeky, comforting and plain delish, just like our bras!”
That cheeky surface sits on serious fit work. “Cheekiness comes from colour, names, storytelling - but it never comes at the expense of feeling good in your skin," she says.
"Comfort and inclusivity are non-negotiables for Nala, our DNA really. Every design must pass the feel test, the wear-all-day test, the size-range test, over and over. We do this through rigorous rounds of sampling and test wearing! The fun is on the surface, the engineering, construction and fit run deep.”
The Visible Bra
Nala also designs for showing off when you want to. The Mesh Moment Underwire Bra, for instance, is intended to be visible.
“There are heaps of t-shirt bras out there, but none as refined and elevated as this beauty.
"The light padding provides lift, support and shape, but that mesh detail is what makes it stand out in a crowd. It’s the kind of bra you want to show off, and you should! Did I mention it’s off the charts comfy?”
Fabric obsession runs through the range. “We obsess over fabrics; it makes all the difference in how lingerie feels on and off the body.
"Every piece starts with comfort - it has to feel soft, smooth, and yummy on the body all day. Our customers love our signature Bio Butter for its weightless, buttery-soft feel, and did we mention it’s made from cornstarch? Plus, our Flossy Mesh is loved for its light, breathable support; you’d never know it was designed from fabric offcuts.”

Fit is built size by size rather than scaled.
“The key for us is working with dozens of fit models to perfect the fit across every size. We never just ‘scale’ one design up or down, if only it were that simple! From the start, each size is carefully calibrated.
The Nala difference
Smaller busts need gentle shaping and lift without gaping, while fuller busts require stronger support, separation and additional features to maximise comfort. Every sample is tested across sizes, so you never end up with a one-size-fits-all compromise. I guess that’s the Nala difference!”
"Sustainability is embedded rather than added on. “It’s beyond important - it’s part of how we do business.
"We use recycled fabrics, bio-based materials, and work with ethical factories. We run tight production runs to avoid waste and use recycled packaging. The goal is to make beautiful pieces that last, not fast, disposable lingerie.”
And the roadmap keeps growing.
“Sugar Rush was such a fun collection and we are always experimenting with new collections, shapes, fabrics, and colours. We plan our collections over a year in advance! It takes time to make real magic.
"Sports bras is up next early next year, and that’s gonna be huge.”
Ask de Winter to distil the mission and she does not miss. “Boobie world domination”
