Once seen as the finicky, high-maintenance grape of the wine world, Pinot Noir has shaken off its diva reputation and is enjoying a surge in popularity across Australia.
From urban wine bars to backyard barbecues, this cool-climate varietal is winning over a new generation of drinkers with its versatility, food-friendly profile, and light-to-medium body that works in every season.
Industry analysts point to a shift in consumer tastes toward wines that are fresher, lower in alcohol, and more expressive of their region.
Pinot’s naturally bright acidity and delicate tannins tick all those boxes - plus it plays well with a wide range of dishes, from duck and mushroom risotto to grilled fish and charcuterie.
Now, Beresford Wines is adding to the momentum with the release of its 2024 Emblem Pinot Noir.
Sourced from handpicked fruit in the Adelaide Hills’ Kuitpo and Aldgate Estate Block, the wine is a vibrant expression of high-altitude Pinot: medium ruby in colour, perfumed with wild berries, rose petals, and herbs, and underpinned by fine tannins and a long, fresh finish.
“There’s a real clarity to this wine - it’s light on its feet, but carries intense flavour and length,” says Beresford winemaker Chad Smith. “We wanted to create something considered but unpretentious, a wine you can enjoy with food or while pouring a glass on a Sunday afternoon.”
Beresford’s 2024 Emblem Pinot Noir is available now via the winery’s website and select independent retailers for $35.
Wine lovers can serve it slightly chilled on warm days or decanted in winter for added depth - making it a year-round staple.
