Forget the airfare, the expensive Italian restaurant and the hours spent in the kitchen trying to recreate Nonna’s pasta.

There’s now a much easier way to get a taste of Italy on the dinner table, with a new range of Italian-made frozen fresh pasta landing in Australian freezers for just $10.

Destination Italy has launched three pasta favourites made in Emilia-Romagna, one of Italy’s most celebrated food regions, and the best part is that dinner is only eight minutes away.

Authentic Italian direct to the freezer

This is not the kind of frozen dinner that requires a degree in microwave engineering.

Each dish comes with its own sauce and goes straight from the freezer to the table in eight minutes.

No rolling pasta, kneading dough, simmering sauce or standing over the stove wondering whether dinner is ever actually going to happen.

The range brings a little of the Italian pasta ritual into an ordinary Australian weeknight, without the work that usually comes with it.

And let's be honest, there are worse ways to spend a Tuesday night than with a bowl of pasta.

Mangia! Here’s what’s on the menu

First up is Gnocchi with Cacio e Pepe, featuring soft potato gnocchi with a creamy Pecorino Romano and black pepper sauce.

Then there’s Ricotta & Spinach Ravioli, delicate filled pasta served with a rich tomato-and-basil sugo.

For mushroom lovers, the Tagliatelle with Porcini Mushrooms brings ribbons of fresh egg pasta together with a comforting porcini mushroom sauce.

All three have an RRP of $10.

The range is made in Emilia-Romagna, a region synonymous with Italian food and home to some of the country's most famous pasta traditions.

Destination Italy is banking on the idea that Australians want the taste and experience of Italian food without necessarily having the time, money or inclination to make it from scratch.

And at $10, it is certainly cheaper than a flight to Bologna.

The new frozen fresh pasta range is available nationally at Coles and selected independent supermarkets.

It joins Destination Italy’s growing collection of products made in Italy, including its wood-fired pizza and gelato ranges.

So if your idea of Italian cooking is currently opening a packet of pasta and hoping for the best, things are about to get considerably more appetising.

Eight minutes. Ten dollars. Bellissimo.
