Revelling Experiences has teamed up with Byron Bay-based ocean and wildlife photographer Craig Parry to launch Framed by Nature, a program of small-group safaris that blend hands-on workshops with access to extraordinary locations.

The two inaugural itineraries, Blue Frontier Safari and East Coast Elements, will take participants from the World Heritage-listed dunes and rainforests of K’gari to the coral gardens of Lady Elliot Island and the subtropical hinterlands of northern New South Wales.

“Photography is about more than settings and composition – it’s about slowing down, being present, and allowing a place to reveal itself to you,” Parry said.

“These journeys are designed to help guests build technical confidence while capturing images that feel alive with the texture, colour, and soul of Australia’s wild places.”

A new way to see and photograph the wild

Unlike traditional tours, the safaris are designed for photographers of all skill levels, with each group capped at 10 participants.

Workshops focus not only on technique but also on fostering a deeper connection with the environment.

On the Blue Frontier Safari, guests will snorkel alongside manta rays and turtles on the Southern Great Barrier Reef, traverse K’gari’s golden dunes, and photograph dingoes, Lake McKenzie, and night skies along remote stretches of coastline.

The East Coast Elements journey moves between ocean and rainforest, from sunrise whale-watching and helicopter shoots over the Gold Coast to waterfall treks and surf photography sessions.

An exclusive stop at Pipit Restaurant in Pottsville adds a culinary angle, with chef Ben Devlin hosting a private food photography session.

Beyond the lens

Drew Campbell, Managing Director of Revelling, said the partnership with Parry was about combining technical expertise with respect for nature.

“Craig brings a rare combination of global expertise and deep respect for nature, making him the perfect guide for these journeys,” Campbell said.

“Together with Craig’s artistry and knowledge, we’ve created experiences that allow guests to embrace their passion, refine their craft, immerse themselves in Australia’s most spectacular locations and enjoy the incredible local hospitality we have to offer.”

The first departures are scheduled for 6 October (Blue Frontier Safari) and 3 November (East Coast Elements), with bookings now open.

Parry, who has worked with National Geographic and Disney+, said he hopes the safaris help photographers not just take better pictures, but also see Australia’s landscapes with fresh eyes.
