THIS $750 DOG COLLAR IS MORE ONE-OF-A-KIND THAN YOUR WEDDING RING

If you thought your dog's collar collection was sorted, think again.

Melbourne-based PK9 Gear has just dropped a four-piece range of luxury leather dog collars designed specifically to mark 2026, the Year of the Fire Horse, and they don't come cheap. Each one is priced at $750.

The collection, all in a striking red-and-gold palette, features four distinct designs: Dānxīn (Cinnabar Heart), Zhūquè (Vermilion Bird), Jīnzōng (Gold Mane) and Chìyàn (Crimson Flame).

Each is made to order, with production taking two to four weeks, and each is genuinely one of a kind.

That's because the collars are crafted from Rocado marbled red shell cordovan sourced from Tuscany, and the marbling naturally varies from hide to hide.

So the collar that turns up on your dog's neck won't look quite like the one in the photos, or like anyone else's.

Beyond the shared leather, each design has its own personality.

Dānxīn has a softer, deeper red with a tapered shape built for sighthounds. Zhūquè is the brightest of the four, with tighter veining and a west-end-style buckle.

Jīnzōng breaks from the pack with a different lining leather from La Perla Azzurra, saving the gold leather for the buckle end. Chìyàn goes hardest on the red-and-gold theme, built to the dog's exact neck measurement.

The Gold Mane

All four get hand saddle stitching, hand-burnished edges and 24K gold PVD hardware over stainless steel, the kind of detail founder Chris Loverseed reckons is where the real craftsmanship shows.

"Don't just look at a logo or a price," Loverseed said.

"Turn the collar over. Look at the leather on the inside, the stitching, the edges, the buckle and how the shape will sit on the dog. That is where the real work is."

Loverseed, who has worked in dog training since 2009 and founded PK9 Gear in 2023, is calling the range among the world's most luxurious dog collars, though he's upfront that it's his own claim rather than an independent title.

Worth noting too, these are pieces for special occasions and considered wear, not for wrestling in the mud or a swim at the beach.

If your dog's wardrobe was already looking a bit thin on the ground for 2026, well, now you know where to look. And where to find $750 lying around.
