Somersby local Gillian Allen became the accidental face of the movement after launching a Facebook campaign to bring back the drink

When Lipton quietly discontinued its creamy spiced Chai Latte blend, fans weren’t about to let it fade into memory.

More than 500 signatures on a petition and a wave of social media pleas later, the much-loved brew is back on supermarket shelves, thanks mainly to one determined woman.

Somersby local Gillian Allen became the accidental face of the movement after launching a Facebook campaign to bring back the drink.

What started as a simple online rally quickly grew into a nationwide call for Lipton to listen.

“Never in a million years did I think a Facebook group would bring it back,” Gillian said. “I just missed it so much; it was part of my daily routine and something that brought me comfort.

To know so many others felt the same and that Lipton not only listened, but even made me the face of it, is fantastic.”

Lipton Teas and Infusions confirmed the relaunch and spotlighted Gillian’s role in the campaign.

“We’ve listened to our fans, including the wonderful Gillian, and are thrilled to be bringing back such a well-loved product,” said Sarah Shen, Marketing Manager ANZ.

The chai blend, inspired by traditional spiced teas served in small glass cups on bustling street corners, is already stirring excitement.

And it isn’t just for mugs: home cooks and recipe creators are using the mix in everything from muffins to crème brûlée.

With the return of Lipton’s Chai Latte, available again in Original and Spiced sachets at Coles, fans can finally recreate their café-style comfort at home.
