As the temperature drops, Soul Origin is turning up the heat, reviving a cult favourite for cold-weather comfort.

From now until September 24, the popular fresh food chain is bringing back its seasonal range of soups, with six handcrafted varieties rolling out across its national stores.

Timed for the crisp turn in weather, the return of soup season has become something of an annual ritual for Soul Origin’s regulars.

According to co-founder Hao Quach, it’s one of the most anticipated moments on their culinary calendar.

“At Soul Origin, we’re passionate about bringing people together through food. Soups have been a staple of our menu for many years. There is always much anticipation from our customers before our soup season,” he said.

This year’s menu spans classic comfort to bold global flavours, all made using seasonal produce and time-honoured recipes:

  • Pumpkin – A smooth, creamy classic, with the natural sweetness of roasted pumpkin.

  • Chicken & Corn – Tender chicken and sweet corn in a hearty broth, delivering familiar comfort with every spoonful.

  • Mushroom with Truffle – For those seeking indulgence, this option offers rich, earthy mushroom flavours enhanced by a subtle truffle finish.

  • Potato with Smoky Bacon – A filling, savoury blend of creamy potato and bacon, tailor-made for grey, wintry days.

  • Tuscan Veg – A vibrant, herbaceous soup filled with seasonal vegetables and inspired by the Mediterranean.

  • Red Curry Chicken – Bringing the heat, this Thai-inspired soup features bold spices and a rich red curry base.

The soups are available in three sizes:

  • Sipper – $4.90

  • Regular – $9.90

  • Large – $ 12.90. Prices may vary slightly between locations.

Sides are also on offer, with a choice of two fresh baguette slices or a buttery herb bread — ideal for dunking and soaking up every last drop.

As a bonus for regulars, Soul Origin is offering a free Soup Sipper to its Soulmates loyalty members with any purchase of $6 or more, starting April 24. The promotion is part of a broader push to reward customer loyalty through the brand’s app and online membership platform.

“It’s just a little way of saying thanks — and making sure everyone gets a taste,” said Quach.

With its cosy textures and nostalgic flavours, the soup range taps into a growing demand for simple, warming meals during the colder months.

It’s also in line with a broader return to comfort food—a trend that has remained strong since the early pandemic years and shows no sign of slowing.

Soul Origin’s soups will remain on the menu through to 24 September, giving Australians plenty of time to revisit a winter favourite — or discover a new one.
