A new dishwasher promising to make loading and unloading easier for Australians with back pain, busy households and ageing family members has launched locally, as appliance brands increasingly focus on comfort and accessibility alongside performance.

Midea has unveiled its new Easy-Lift Dishwasher in Australia, featuring a bottom basket that can be raised up to 25 centimetres to waist height, even when carrying a load of up to 18 kilograms.

The feature is designed to reduce the need to bend down when loading dishes, something the company says could benefit millions of Australians living with back pain or mobility concerns.

Midea dishwasher focuses on accessibility and convenience

The Easy-Lift Basket is the standout feature of the new dishwasher, allowing users to raise the lower basket for easier access.

According to Midea, the launch comes as more Australians prioritise comfort, safety and long-term usability in the home, particularly as the population ages.

The dishwasher also includes a 5.5-star water rating and a 4.5-star energy rating, along with features designed to improve efficiency, including Auto Wash sensors and Dual Zone Wash technology.

Dishwasher includes premium hygiene and drying features

The appliance also includes several hygiene-focused programs, including HygieneCare+, IntensiveCare+ and MachineCare+, which Midea says are designed to help eliminate viruses and bacteria during wash cycles.

Other features include ActiveOpen Dry technology, which automatically opens the dishwasher door at the end of the cycle to improve drying efficiency by releasing steam and allowing cool air to circulate.

The dishwasher’s “Spacemaster Design” also increases internal capacity, creating additional room for larger cookware and taller items.

Christie Yuen said the dishwasher was designed around practical features Australians would genuinely use every day.

“The new Easy-Lift dishwasher brings to life our promise of creating technology that makes everyday living easier, more comfortable and more efficient,” she said.

“It brings together cleaning performance, energy saving, convenience, safety and design into a dishwasher that we believe leads the way at a time when Australians need great products with features they actually use to make their lives easier at home.”
